Use Cases for the HydroHawk Legionella Testing Kit

Up to 1.5 million UK households could harbour the potentially fatal Legionella bacteria. A study in Australia examined the presence of Legionella in home showers and 64% were found to be positive for 𝘓. 𝘱𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘮𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘢. TMV (Thermostatic Mixing Valve) taps blend hot water with cold water to ensure safe, constant water temperatures, typically between 38°C and 46°C. However, Legionella bacteria thrive between 20°C and 50°C, so comfortable water temperatures may increase the risk of Legionella infection. Biofilm (scale or slime) can also form inside taps, providing a hiding place for Legionella bacteria.
